About the Position
The Intern (Donor Analytics) will play an important supportive role in the identification, tracking, and assessment of funding opportunities. The intern will be responsible for scanning competitive funding opportunities, managing a database of funding opportunities, and work with BDPU to ensuring timely communication of relevant opportunities to scientists and program leads.
The successful candidate will:
1. Screening of Funding Opportunities:
- Conduct weekly screenings of donor databases and funding platforms to identify competitive funding opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a summary table of funding opportunities and share it with relevant scientists every Wednesday.
2. Donor Trend Analysis:
- Assist in gathering and summarizing information on donor funding patterns and priorities to provide initial insights for WF’s research programs.
- Identify new potential funding sources and emerging trends in donor priorities.
3. Proposal Pipeline Support:
- Support scientists and program leads in understanding donor requirements and eligibility criteria.
- Assist Business Development Unit (BDU) in tracking submitted proposals and maintaining a repository of past funding applications and outcomes.
4. Data Management & Reporting:
- Maintain an up-to-date donor analytics database.
- Provide periodic reports on funding opportunities, donor trends, and proposal success rates.
5. Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with the BDU to ensure alignment of donor analytics with fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate with research teams to match funding opportunities with relevant projects and programs.
This job might be for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Business, Economics, Development Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills with an ability to interpret donor trends and funding opportunities and their requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Experience or interest in international development, research funding, or donor relations is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desirable Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work in the office and remotely.
- Knowledge in aquatic food research and development.
- This position is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international governance and executive coordination in an international organization working on research for development.
- The intern will also get the chance to interact and collaborate with global experts and leaders in fisheries and aquaculture research.
- A monthly stipend and health insurance will be provided.
Location and Duration
The successful intern will be based at WorldFish Headquarters in Penang, Malaysia. The successful candidate should be available to commence the internship as soon as possible for a duration of up to 5 ½ months. This position is open only to national applicants only.
