Position Objective

The main purpose of the assignment is achieving specific tasks under Intermediate Result-1 (IR1.2) related to adaptive co-management and fisheries governance components of USAID’s ECOFISH II Activity. This involves formulating the guidelines that support sustainable practices in coastal and marine fisheries. The specific task of the consultancy services would be the development of a comprehensive study report on organizational modalities on landing centre-based fisheries co-management initiatives in the coastal region of Bangladesh for the sustainable coastal and marine fisheries management.

The consultancy service is expected to fulfill the objective of developing a comprehensive study report on organizational modalities on landing centre-based fisheries co-management initiatives as developed at 11 fish landing centres at Teknaf (3), Ukhyia (1), Cox’s Bazar Sadar (2), Moheshkhali (1), Kutubdia (1), Kalapara (1), Pathorghata (1) and Charfasson (1); in the coastal region of Bangladesh under ECOFISH II, WorldFish for sustainable coastal and marine fisheries management.

Responsibilities

The selected consultant will be responsible for following tasks:

  • Conducting a comprehensive review of existing Fish Landing Centre management systems and identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Engaging with relevant stakeholders, including government bodies, local communities, and fishery management organizations, to gather insights and feedback.
  • Developing detailed institutional frameworks that outline roles, responsibilities, decision-making processes, and mechanisms for stakeholder collaboration.
  • Produce a comprehensive Guideline on organizational modalities on landing centre-based fisheries co-management initiatives for sustainable coastal and marine fisheries management, and study report.
  • Follow the general WorldFish norms, guidelines and practices and any other obligations to be shared by HR of WorldFish

Deliverables

The consultant will need to deliver the following deliverables:

  • Submission of a comprehensive Guideline for organizational modalities on landing centre-based fisheries co-management initiatives for sustainable coastal and marine fisheries management (English and Bangla), and study report.
  • Institutional Frameworks: Providing comprehensive documents outlining proposed co-management structures.
