About the Position

The Research Assistant will be responsible to support research on aquaculture production system in Egypt. S/he is will also take the responsibility to support the research team travel arrangements, uploading and updating files on one cooperate system (OSC), uploading and updating files on MEL platform and organizing meetings and special projects within Egypt office. S/he will works closely across the whole WorldFish teams to achieve the aims of organizational communication and documentation issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with projects working team to implement activities.
  • Carry out and follow up research experiments.
  • Conduct producing fish under different production system as assigned.
  • Collect and analyze water quality and interprets results and undertake remedial measures if necessary.
  • Inspect and ensure proper functioning and hygiene of the fish production facilities.
  • Handle fish with care as required in performing duties.
  • Data entry of records of feeding and health records assigned specific hatchery duties as a primary responsibility.
  • Communicate verbally and/or orally any challenge with fish and equipment encountered to supervisors.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information of the organization
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

This full time job is for Egyptian nationals with the following skills and qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Aquaculture with at least 4 years working experience in related field.
  • Over 2 years’ experience in aquaculture with good knowledge of different aquaculture production systems.
  • Laboratory experience with good knowledge in sampling, preserving and analysis.
  • Computer literate, with familiarity using MS Office (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in Arabic with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge on aquaculture production systems, integrated aquaculture Agriculture systems.
  • Contacts with fish farming community.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks; and must be a team player with good interpersonal skills.

This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position and WorldFish offers a competitive remuneration package including comprehensive benefits (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, 15% employer provident fund contribution, paid leave and others. The duration of the contract will initially be for a three-year period with possibility for extension, depending on funding and performance. This full-time job is open to Egyptians nationals only.

Location: The post holder will be based in Abbassa, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt.
