Advocacy & Engagement enables Minderoo to strategically support, defend or advocate for its causes, appropriately influencing decisions across political, economic, community, and social institutions. Targeted advocacy, engagement with key stakeholders, including policymakers and government agencies, and strategic communications are crucial for advancing our strategic goals. The 2030 Strategy also places a heightened focus on the role of Advocacy & Engagement in building the capacity of our partners and the broader for-purpose sector, to accelerate impact.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Advocacy, this role will work closely with colleagues across Advocacy & Engagement and other Focus Areas to design, execute and evaluate advocacy plans that advance Minderoo's mission and strategic goals.

You will play a key role in building trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including policymakers, government agencies, NGOs, academics, private sector partners and community representatives. Using a mix of advocacy techniques such as campaigning, communications, policy development and stakeholder engagement, you will help translate complex issues into clear, compelling strategies that deliver measurable outcomes.

The role may be performed from Perth or Sydney, subject to role suitability and business needs.

About You

You are a strategic, values-led advocacy professional with extensive experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies, campaigns and stakeholder engagement plans that influence systems change. You bring a strong understanding of policy, government relations and stakeholder landscapes, and can confidently navigate complex social, economic or environmental issues.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience in senior advocacy, public policy, government relations, communications or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies and campaigns that drive systemic change.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across government, NGOs, academia, private sector partners and community groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues for diverse audiences.
  • Strong strategic leadership capability, including the ability to move between big-picture thinking and practical delivery.
  • Cultural competency and an understanding of issues affecting First Nations people and broader community affairs.
  • A collaborative, values-led approach and the ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in International Relations, Public Policy, Communications or a related discipline.
