About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data & Insights. The Data & Insights Analyst will work closely with the Data and Insights team to support their strategy goals. Gathering, analysing and interpreting data across multiple systems and sources aligned with Minderoo’s Focus Areas and Impact Missions to support an ambitious program of research, policy, evaluation, advocacy, development, and systems change.

The successful candidates’ responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitate the collection, transformation, analysis and reporting of data to enhance research outcomes and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that empower leaders across Minderoo to make informed decisions, and that deliver value.
  • Work with portfolio stakeholders to extract, document, and confirm requirements.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, undertake analysis of business processes, investigating operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, and identifying alternate solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
  • Assess feasibility and recommend new approaches to meet customer requirements, translating business requirements into system specifications in accordance with agreed standards.

About You

A successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, analytical, resilient, passionate about social and environmental impact and thrive in an agile working environment.

· Proven and demonstrable proficiency in Python, R and/or SQL to generate, clean, link, enrich, transform, process, report data for applied research and evidence-based decision-making.

· Demonstrated experience with literate programming, versioning of data and code (e.g., GitHub repositories), and documentation.

· Excellent capabilities working with large and complex datasets.

· Bachelor’s degree, higher degree or equivalent experience in data science, computer science, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, mathematics, or related field.

· Proven high level research and data analysis skills in a related discipline.

· Demonstrated experience in one (or more) of the following will be advantageous:

  • Data linkage: linking and enriching health, social and administrative data to enable new insights whilst preserving privacy.
  • Geospatial Analysis:
  • Machine Learning:
  • Natural Language Processing:
  • Statistical Methods: including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, study design, predictive models, forecasting, and time-series analysis.
  • Data Visualisation:
  • Simulation and Optimisation: deploy data-driven approaches to simulate scenarios including agent-based models.
  • Cloud Services and Web App Development: experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).

· Analytical thinker – Ability to source, gather, interpret, and communicate quantitative and qualitative organisational data to a wide-ranging audience.

· Strong ability to engage with stakeholders, with varying levels of data literacy and technical knowledge.

· Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to extract actionable insights to inform decision-making.
