Ocean Job Board
Reefscapers
A rare opportunity to work alongside our Marine Savers team at Four Seasons Resorts Maldives, contributing directly to sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation. While a relevant degree is preferred, we will prioritise extensive hands-on experience from candidates looking to deepen their expertise within a busy island-based conservation programme.
While this is an unpaid internship, we provide full staff board & lodging with a 1-minute “commute” to work.
The Role
• Apply ASAP (before 14 April) to start work in April-May 2026 for a fixed 3-month period.
• Daily operations at our Turtle Rehabilitation Centre: rescue, intake, treatments, monitoring.
• Clinical support, first-aid, and assistance with veterinary procedures.
• Daily husbandry: food prep, hand-feeding, tank cleaning & maintenance.
• Research into buoyancy syndrome and rehabilitation protocols.
• Data collection, record-keeping, and reporting.
• Local outreach, guest presentations.
• Contribute to website and social media content.
The Ideal Candidate
• Hands-on experience with turtles is essential (rehabilitation, handling, fieldwork).
• Background in biology, zoology, or related. A relevant degree is preferable but not required.
• Veterinary training/experience is desirable but not essential.
• Confident swimmer (essential); SCUBA or freediving an advantage.
• Physically fit non-smoker, capable of demanding practical work (lifting up to 20kg).
• Proficient in written and spoken English; additional languages are a bonus.
• Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable living in a remote island environment.
• Positive, team-oriented, with strong communication skills.
Intern Benefits
• Return transfers between the resort and Malé.
• Shared accommodation with other same-sex resort staff members.
• 3 meals per day + tea breaks; working hours are 09:00 – 18:00 (with occasional late evenings).
• 1 day off per week (with complementary excursion and possible dive-training when available).
• Uniform, including polo T-shirt, shorts and board shorts.
• This is an unpaid position with no program fee; you will fund your international flights to & from the Maldives.
• Approximately 50% of our interns are subsequently hired for full-time Reefscapers roles, or go on to find work elsewhere in the Maldives (based on performance/availability, and not guaranteed).
