The MSC is currently recruiting a Fisheries Standard Manager.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the running of the MSC’s Fisheries Standard, the MSC Improvement Program and the MSC-ASC Seaweed Standard.
You would join a close-knit team who are responsible for more than 400 fisheries and seaweed units in the MSC Program, ensuring that our requirements are applied correctly and consistently.
The ideal candidate will have professional experience in fisheries management, assessment or monitoring, as well as a good knowledge of current issues in global fisheries. Alternatively, they will have relevant professional experience in seaweed production.
They will get involved in:
oversight of a portfolio of fisheries and seaweed units that are undergoing assessment or annual review by third-party auditors
technical review of assessment reports, ensuring that MSC’s requirements and processes are being applied correctly
supporting colleagues and stakeholders in understanding and communicating the MSC’s requirements to a range of audiences
training auditors in the correct application of the MSC’s requirements and assessment processes.
The successful candidate will:
have a degree, or equivalent experience, in a sustainability or environmental discipline
have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese, to effectively engage with stakeholders and review technical documentation
have a strong teamwork ethic and excellent project planning, organisation, and time management skills
a track record of successfully managing relationships with stakeholders, collaborators, and colleagues.

The MSC is committed to flexible working. The successful candidate will need to work from the relevant country office for a minimum of 50% of their working time each month The remaining time can be worked from home. During the onboarding process, hybrid work may require more in-office work than remote work.
