The postholder will be responsible for delivering an ambitious program of work primarily responsible for fisheries retention and growth of the North Atlantic region, including building the Norwegian commercial market and working closely with other Scandinavian countries to ensure alignment in strategies.

Reporting into the Regional Director, North Europe, the post holder will be part of MSC’s senior outreach team working towards MSC’s vision and mission to drive change on the water through its Fisheries and Chain of Custody Standards.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to work with one of the leading seafood certification organizations to make real impact in shaping the future health of the world’s oceans. The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of sustainable fisheries management, with senior level experience working within sustainable food systems and supply chains, fisheries management, accreditation and/or credible eco-labels.
  • Demonstrable leadership and management skills to empower and galvanise the North Atlantic team in reaching its goals based on MSC’s Integrated Strategic Plan.
  • Vision, creativity and strategic awareness of the North Atlantic seafood sector and wider European fisheries, placing MSC as a trusted and reliable standard setter for its users, and wider stakeholder community.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a variety of different stakeholders and partners, to strengthen their understanding of, and engagement with, the MSC program.

Fluency in English and either Icelandic or Norwegian. Other Nordic languages an advantage.

If this has inspired you, and you believe you have what it takes to deliver an ambitious program for the MSC in the North Atlantic, please send your CV and a covering letter to: Jab@seafoodpeople.net from Seafood People, the recruitment agency assisting us with this role.

We look forward to receiving your application and meeting you!

The MSC is committed to flexible working. Depending on location, the successful candidate may need to work from an MSC office for a minimum of 50% of their working time each month. The remaining time can be worked from home. During the onboarding process, hybrid work may require more in-office work than remote work.
