HUB Ocean is an ocean tech start-up, established as an independent foundation and dedicated to unlocking the power of data to protect and restore ocean health. Our mission is to improve ocean decision-making by unlocking the value of data, technology, and collaboration.

We have built a high-performing, cloud-based geospatial Ocean Data Platform that provides scientists, experts, and organizations with seamless access to fit-for-purpose ocean data from both public and private sources. The world’s ocean data — and our Ocean Data Platform — are at the core of everything we do.

Frontend Engineer with strong design craft

Are you a frontend engineer who enjoys building intuitive user experiences for complex data products? Do you get energy from turning powerful technology into tools that people actually enjoy using?

As a Frontend Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the user experience of the Ocean Data Platform. You will work closely with fellow frontend and backend engineers, product teams, and data specialists to build responsive and intuitive interfaces that make ocean data.

We take pride in being small and non-bureaucratic team that is designed to for speed, ownership, and experimentation. It is small, highly technical, and built to work end-to-end on real problems. This means that we are looking for engineers that can adapt quickly, can take ownership of outcomes not just delivered code.

Our team also values engineers with strong curiosity on how to best deliver value to users and customers by leveraging new technologies and patterns using tools/agents/LLMs. No matter someone’s role or seniority, we expect everyone to be “AI-native”. That means being curious about the models, how they work, what they’re good at, where their limitations are, and how to design experiences around them.

We strongly encourage all applicants to register and try the Ocean Data Platform. After all, it´s at the heart of this role.

While occasional remote work may be possible, this is predominantly an on-site position at our offices in Fornebu. We value in-person collaboration and presence at the office. This position reports into our Technology team.
