Program Overview

Location: Washington DC, New York, Boston. Ideal candidate will reside in areas listed with capacity to be in office occasionally.

Overall Function

The Associate Vice President, Institutional Giving provides strategic guidance and leadership for EDF’s foundation fundraising program, including oversight and direction on major and prospective funder strategies/proposals/reports, internal and external relationships and communications, and operational processes. Reports to Vice President, Institutional Giving (VP-IG).

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a senior leader on the Institutional Giving team, partnering closely with the VP-IG on all aspects of team management; thought partnership on strategic relationship management for current and prospective donors; and interfacing with EDF programs and departments to ensure smooth and timely information flow and working relationships. Supervise and provide leadership to IG team focused on expanding current and securing new partnerships, including but not limited to directors and senior foundation officers, particularly mentoring staff and helping build senior staff leadership and management skills. Oversee and coordinate team-level operations, including responding to information requests from leadership and other EDF programs, ensuring processes are efficient, internal stakeholders’ needs are met, and information flows smoothly. Evaluate IG team strategies, processes, output, communication, and performance on an ongoing basis, and identify improvements as needed. Provide overall quality assurance across top solicitations, $1M+ proposals, reports and strategy documents, ensuring that deliverables are donor focused with compelling program strategy. Provide final review of IG correspondence and other materials for select EDF leadership, including donor briefing materials. Carry out special projects that add value for the department or the organization. Manage donor relationships and board prospects (limited) as needed. Participates in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred; minimum of twelve years of development experience in one or more of the following areas: institutional giving, major gifts, government fundraising, or operational/business planning. Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytic and people/project management skills. Ability to oversee and execute a complex set of projects with time-sensitive deliverables. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage individuals and teams, inspiring strong performance and professional growth. Demonstrate commitment to a high level of confidentiality, attention to detail, thoroughness and accuracy. Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds. Solid computer skills, particularly with Word, Excel and donor database software packages. Knowledge of environmental issues a plus. Please include a Cover Letter with your submission.

Hiring Range

We offer a strong total rewards package encompassing competitive salary, robust benefits, and professional development opportunities consistent with a modern global organization.

The pay range for this role is 190,000 - 206,000 USD which takes into account factors such as candidate experience, skills, training, internal team equity and local norms.
