Summary of Position

MDPI is seeking a Fundraising & Partnerships Lead to manage a department representing the organization to external stakeholders, communities, and donors through the production of communication materials. This includes showcasing MDPI’s impactful field implementation in remote coastal communities in Eastern Indonesia and its interventions, innovations, and activities at provincial and national levels to contribute to sustainable fisheries.

In addition to managing the team, the Fundraising & Partnerships Lead will collaborate with the Director to identify funding opportunities, as well as be responsible for writing proposals and high-quality narrative reports and managing donor grants. This role involves close collaboration with other Leads and the management team.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct desk reviews and mapping for funds/grants opportunities.
  • Initiate applications for funds/grants from foundations, government, aid agencies, and/or the private sector.
  • Interpret large volumes of information into clear, logical, and compelling donor reports and funding proposals.
  • Write and edit concept notes/expressions of interest/full proposals that encapsulate MDPI’s projects, vision/mission, and impact into a succinct and appealing narrative, in collaboration with the Director and other Leads.
  • Collaborate with Program Leads in preparing narrative reports to various donors.
  • Manage the Development team, ensuring effectiveness, meeting targets and deadlines player and fostering teamwork to achieve MDPI’s vision and mission.
  • Oversee the implementation of the communication strategy within the organization and for various platforms and external audiences.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Monitoring & Evaluation strategy within the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Lead in preparing funding financial proposals and reports.
  • Manage the grant management Google Drive folders, ensuring that all grant documentation (contracts, proposals, reports) is stored and updated.
  • Manage individual operations requests, including finance and HR administration.
  • Undertake other assigned duties for the benefit of the organizations as per the supervisor’s request.

Experience and Skills Required

Essential Qualifications:

  • Indonesian Nationality with excellent narrative writing skills in English and Indonesian.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience successfully applying for and managing funds from foundations, government, aid agencies, and/or the private sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership experience, being a team player committed to collaborative work.
  • Capacity to conduct desk reviews for funds/grants and approach companies and businesses.
  • Ability to interpret large volumes of information into clear, logical, and compelling donor reports and funding proposals.
  • Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation work and knowledge management to maintain systems and keep track of funding applications.
  • Experience ensuring accountability and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Experience in communication and understanding how to implement communication strategies.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience of project planning, grant management, and narrative reporting.
  • Experience in environmental conservation and/or the development sector.
  • Understanding of theories of change and/or logical frameworks.
  • Familiarity with USAID reporting and compliance.
