Are you a proactive, detail-oriented financial professional with a passion for environmental conservation? Wetlands International is looking for a Project Controller to join our Finance team in Ede-Wageningen, the Netherlands. In this role, you will play a key part in monitoring and optimizing projects that conserve and restore wetlands around the world. You will work in a dynamic, international environment where your financial expertise directly contributes to our mission: protecting nature and improving lives.

Your role
As our Project Controller, you will:
- Support and advise project managers on financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently.
- Monitor financial flows, identify risks, and take proactive measures to keep projects on track.
- Prepare accurate financial reports for donors and internal stakeholders, including monthly, quarterly, and annual updates.
- Collaborate with international teams, partners, and auditors to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Support contract management, invoicing, and financial administration in line with donor requirements.
What we’re looking for
- A recognized accounting qualification and 5+ years of experience in financial roles within project-driven organizations.
- Experience with grant processes, international contracts, and project accounting — particularly in multi-site, multi-partner environments.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
- A proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to explain financial matters clearly to non-financial colleagues.
- Knowledge of financial administration systems and advanced Excel skills.
- A genuine interest in environmental conservation and sustainable development — your work directly supports our mission.
- Someone allowed to work in the Netherlands, or able to realize this in a short period of time.
