The Flanders Marine Institute is seeking a motivated candidate to join the IT OPS team, who manages and maintains the VLIZ IT infrastructure. - You will join the IT division of about 18 enthusiastic developers, analysts and operations engineers working together on a wide variety of projects.
YOUR TASKS
- The installation, configuration and updating of server hardware, virtualization platforms and containerized environments.
- The management of applications running on these systems, including installation, migration, and routine updates.
- Monitoring of system and application availability, performance, and security via a (certified) SIEM.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting the VLIZ network infrastructure.
- The implementation and ongoing improvement of appropriate security measures across infrastructure components.
- Aligning infrastructure and processes with internal policies, legal requirements (e.g. GDPR, dual use), certification and good security practices.
- Responding to incidents or system irregularities to minimize impact and ensure fast recovery.
- Supporting internal and external vulnerability assessments and following up on remediation.
- Taking part in the permanence (on-call) rotation, when required.
- You report to the IT Operations team lead.

YOUR PROFILE
- Bachelor or master in informatics, or equal by experience.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity practices (implementation, procedures, etc...).
- Familiarity with security monitoring tools and log analysis (i.e. SIEM).
- Experience running or supporting vulnerability scans.
- Experience with cloud and virtualization environments such as VMWare, Nutanix, or OpenStack.
- Familiarity with applications & databases: Apache, Tomcat, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, …
- Good knowledge of networking protocols, switch and firewall configuration.
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools is a plus.
- Comfortable documenting configurations and procedures.
- Proficient in Dutch or English.
- Team player with strong collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented and committed to quality service.
- Problem-solver who performs well under pressure.
