Climate change is one of the biggest challenges today, with the ocean at the heart of it. VLIZ conducts multidisciplinary research with high societal relevance and impact. The Climate-Ocean-Biodiversity nexus is at the forefront of VLIZ research, with a major focus on ‘Ocean and Human Health’ and ‘Coastal Climate Change’. With nearly 60 people working in the research department, it is among the biggest and fastest growing VLIZ units.
Within research, we are looking for a motivated person with an academic background to assist the research director in running the research department and to support the operations of the research divisions. You will be in charge of the day-to-day administration and budget planning within the department and help to administer third party funded research projects. Furthermore, you will help run daily operations support the research director in planning research themes, overview research projects and the research budgets. Depending on your background and interest, you will be further involved in scientific writing, such as proposal writing or project reporting.
