The Environmental Data & Governance Initiative (EDGI) is a research collaborative with a mission to advance the environmental right to know. We are a horizontally organized community of caring and committed members, mostly volunteer, from multiple academic institutions and non-profit organizations. EDGI focuses on issues of environmental justice, data justice, information accessibility, and corporate and government accountability.

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing EDGI’s internal and external communications platforms. Currently EDGI hosts three websites, and over the course of the next year will build a new website for an integrated web presence. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for ensuring our websites are up to date with content and certificates, and support staff and key members in contributing to the websites. EDGI is a fully remote organization and uses Slack, Google Drive, and Zoom as tools for internal communication, as well as scripts on GitHub Actions to automate and combine those tools. The Systems Administrator will support EDGI’s maintenance and use of these systems. The Systems Administrator will also support EDGI’s data preservation coalition, the Public Environmental Data Partners (PEDP), in its website and communications tools needs. The Systems Administrator will need to work autonomously and in teams, and be able to discern priorities across and within projects.

EDGI expects all staff to adhere to EDGI’s policies and procedures including our Code of Conduct and support EDGI’s mission, vision, and values, which include justice; environmental and human health; intersectionality; anti-facism, anti-racism, and anti-oppression; accessibility; participatory knowledge-making; and responsivity and proactivity. There will be an employee review approximately three months after the start date to ensure mutual satisfaction.

To apply, please visit our Applicant Portal. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Please include a cover letter in your application materials describing your relevant experience and qualifications. We respectfully request no follow-up calls or emails. Priority given to applications submitted before May 6, 2025.
