WLC is a small research-based non-profit located in Logan, UT. Our goal is to bring science to collaborative partnerships working to improve land management, while supporting community and livelihood. We strongly believe that partnerships comprised of diverse stakeholders lead to innovative management ideas, and that producers are the foundational stewards of our working landscapes. We work closely with producers, state agencies, federal agencies, and university partners to complete our work, share ideas, and inspire innovative management. Working Lands Conservation is a project of Multiplier, a U.S. based 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization, which helps protect and foster a healthy, sustainable, resilient and equitable world.

POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for an assistant crew lead to work under the guidance of the project manager to study how to balance livestock grazing with other valuable ecosystem services on public lands, including healthy riparian areas, soil carbon sequestration, and high-quality sage-grouse habitat.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading a crew in vegetation, soil, and water sampling
  • Supervising the crew during soil processing and data entry
  • Maintaining a safe work environment
  • Other duties that are reasonable and consistent with this position

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in environmental monitoring
  • Experience working on a field-based crew
  • Must be comfortable working in heat and cold
  • Must be able to carry 10 lbs of gear to field sites
  • Effective communicator, detail-oriented, problem-solver


Work Schedule, Location, and Pay

This position will run from May 12th through October 3rd. The summer assistant crew lead will work four days a week for 10 hours per day. Time will be split between Randolph, UT and Logan, UT. Housing will be provided during field work but technicians must provide their own food. Housing will not be provided during time spent in Logan. Transportation between Logan and Randolph will be provided.
