Job summary

The Business Assurance team are looking for Quality Auditor role to support the successful delivery of the UKHOs corporate plan and maintain its current business as usual responsibilities. The Business Assurance Team currently consists of six people and the team is part of the wider Finance and Corporate Services Division.

The Business Assurance team is responsible for providing stakeholders with confidence that UKHO are in control of the business. This means UKHO can continue to meet both its obligations as a trading fund and customer expectations.

We provide proactive support and guidance to the business areas to ensure we meet a wide range of requirements, in relation to our governance (how we make decisions), risk management (threats, uncertainties, and opportunities to achieving our objectives) and compliance (processes and supporting behaviours).

You will support the Business Assurance team in fulfilling its objectives and ensure we meet all central government responsibilities, and both UKHO and MoD policy. We provide proactive support and guidance to the business to ensure the organisation meets its wide range of requirements, balanced against achieving appropriate customer outcomes.

You will conduct internal quality reviews (as a qualified internal auditor) to provide assurance in the 2nd line of defence and evidence of compliance with UKHO Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015. You may be called upon to conduct reviews against Project & Programme governance, Safety Management System and other areas as deemed necessary by the business. You will provide constructive challenge to, and work with, managers to improve quality management within UKHO

Further Location Information

The role will be contractually based at our Head Office in Taunton. There will be a minimum of 4 weeks training in the office, after which more development opportunities and training may be required in office and as required. We are working a hybrid working model post pandemic whereby you will be able to balance your work location (remotely and/or in the office) in agreement with your line manager, however you must be able to travel to the office as and when required

  • Support and deputise for the Quality & Audit Manager in a wide range of functions.

  • Provide constructive challenge to, and work with, managers to improve quality management within UKHO.
  • Engage with many areas of the business and build strong working relationships
  • Manage a varied and demanding workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Adapt to changing priorities and offer effective solutions

Person specification

Essential:

We are seeking a motivated individual to join the Business Assurance team with the following characteristics:

  • Qualified & experienced Internal Auditor with an enthusiasm/interest in Business Assurance
  • Sound understanding of ISO9001 and Quality Management
  • Confidence/Ability to work with staff at all levels & build strong working relationships
  • Ability to analyse and focus on the issues that matter
  • Good organisational skills & previous experience of working as part of a team
  • Previous experience of working autonomously, showing initiative, and managing own workload.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills in order to undertake a range of tasks including the ability to produce concise, clear, and coherent reports (assessed by the application tests)

Process:

  • Complete Civil Service tests by 11.55pm Wednesday 19th July
  • Complete the rest of your application by 11.55pm Sunday 23rd July
  • Single Stage Interview via TEAMS including a presentation. You will be contacted to book a suitable slot if you are shortlisted (see our Candidate Pack for further information)
  • Interview will be with a panel of no more than 3 people and will last approx. 45 mins
