The SeaDoc Society supports and performs important scientific study in the Pacific Northwest's inland seas, often known as the Salish Sea. There are 37 species of animals, 172 species of birds, 253 species of fish, and over 3,000 kinds of invertebrates in this diverse ecosystem. Today, about eight million people call this region home, and the Salish Sea's economic and recreational activities produce billions of dollars each year.
