The Mexico Sustainable Watersheds Program Director works to achieve large-scale and impactful conservation initiatives to secure benefits for people and nature in relation to water & water security. Priority regions include Mexico City, Monterrey, Yucatan Peninsula and Chiapas, but this scope may broaden to address other regions. S/He advances TNCs agenda in Mexico, designing and implementing effective and impactful strategies to advance the goals of our shared conservation agenda: 1) Provide food and water sustainably, 2) Protect Oceans, Lands and Water and 3) Tackle Climate Change. A systemic approach, outstanding people management skills and knowledge of integrated watershed management and climate change are top required qualifications. S/He oversees all aspects of the Sustainable Watersheds Program. S/he will work under the supervision of the Mexico Conservation Director and coordinate with the Sustainable Landscapes and the Oceans Directors. S/he will receive input from different global programs and occasionally, will provide advice and support across the Latin American Region and other places. The position is preferably based in Mexico City, but other locations may be considered.
S/He an inspirational leader who uses TNC’s code of conduct and competencies as a baseline to lead by example. Dedicates time to set expectations, guide, coach and develop staff knowing that being a great leader is as important as the technical knowledge.
