We are seeking applications for this unique dual role combining port chaplaincy with parish ministry. You will offer spiritual, emotional and practical support to seafarers of all backgrounds and nationalities visiting the Port of Yokohama, while also serving as Rector to the historic English-speaking Anglican congregation of Christ Church.

The Port Chaplain & Rector will visit ships, provide pastoral care and advocacy support to seafarers, work collaboratively with maritime partners, and lead regular worship and sacramental ministry for the international congregation. This permanent role offers fully furnished accommodation adjacent to Christ Church, plus access to a work vehicle.

This post is open to ordained male priests from churches within the Anglican Communion. Due to the current stance of the Diocese of Yokohama regarding the Ordination of Women, we regret that we are only able to consider applications from male priests. A basic understanding of Japanese language is preferred but not essential.

For applicants who do not already have the right to live and work in Japan, appointment is subject to successful work visa sponsorship (which would be supported by MtS Japan).

Please see the attached Job Description and Application Form for more details.
