Divemaster Internship

Reports to: Diving Operations Manager / Lead Instructors

Overview

The Divemaster Internship is a hands-on professional development opportunity designed for individuals pursuing leadership-level training in recreational scuba diving. Interns work closely with the Diving Operations team to support daily dive activities, training programs, and student experiences while completing (or building toward) PADI Divemaster certification requirements.

This role combines practical in-water experience, operational support, and professional skill development in a dynamic educational and marine environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist instructors with scuba training programs, including DSDs, Open Water, and continuing education courses
  • Support student divers with equipment setup, briefings, and in-water supervision
  • Participate in dive planning, logistics, and safety procedures
  • Assist with gear preparation, maintenance, and post-dive equipment care
  • Help with boat operations and site setup under supervision
  • Support dive documentation, rosters, and compliance with safety and training standards
  • Act as a positive role model for students, demonstrating safe and responsible diving practices
  • Participate in ongoing training, briefings, and operational meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 21
  • Certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
  • Certified PADI Rescue Diver
  • Current First Aid/CPR (EFR or equivalent within the last 24 months)
  • Medical clearance for diving (if required)
  • Strong swimming ability and comfort in open water
  • Minimum number of logged dives: 50

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or planning to enroll in a PADI Divemaster course
  • Previous experience working with students or in outdoor education
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry scuba equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to participate in multiple dives per day as scheduled

Schedule & Commitment

  • Schedule varies based on dive programming and academic calendar
  • Includes weekdays, with occasional weekends or special programs
