Sustainability Teacher - Renewable Energy

Job Summary
The Center for Sustainable Development is actively seeking an innovative and forward thinking Engineer to join it’s team of Sustainability Teachers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver lesson plans on renewable energy to Island School students, and at local trade schools.
- Co-advise the Island School research course.
- Monitor and operate existing renewable energy systems on CSD’s Campus in South Eleuthera, The Bahamas.
- Design and implement additional renewable energy production on Campus.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients during each project.
- Prepare bid packages, obtain permits, and procure materials for each project.
- Supervise and in many cases, lead the installation team for each project.
- Work with the Sustainability team on delivering internal projects.
- Promote and develop local business connections and partnerships that lead to growth of sustainable industries on Eleuthera.

Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Every member of the team is an educator and a spokesperson for the Organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficiency with AutoCAD preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or demonstrated practical experience of equal value in renewable energy design and installation, or electrical trade work.
- Ability to live in a small, remote location. Work and live in an intentional community.
- Professional demeanour and desire to work on an ecologically friendly campus.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience
- 3+ years of project management experience.
Communication Skills
- Strong verbal and written skills required.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Work, PowerPoint required. AutoCAD preferred.
Other
- OSHA or equivalent safety training preferred.
Adaptability
- Able to survive and thrive in a small and tight-knit community located in a remote part of The Bahamas.

Schedule
This is a full-time position with annual review. The Cape Eleuthera Island School and its related entities operate year round and working hours vary depending on needs but are typically Monday-Friday (40 hours/week), however, evening and weekend work will be required from time to time. Special events will require periods of time outside of normal working hours when staff must be on site for extended periods. The successful candidate should expect, and desire to work a variable and mission driven schedule.
