The Cape Eleuthera Island School seeks a Bahamian resident artist to join our community for the Fall 2024 Semester. The residency program is an opportunity for people who are interested in developing their visual arts practice and their skills as an arts educator.
Resident Artists will be given access to our on-campus community art space and access to The Island School’s material resources for the duration of their residency. Residents are selected based on an individual’s overall practice and passion as an artist, with consideration for how they might fit into The Island School’s education mission. The residency is self-directed and independent.
During their residency, artists will spend the majority of their time engaging with their practice, either continuing existing projects or using the natural landscape of South Eleuthera to inspire new work. Artists are encouraged and expected to spend the majority of their time working on their practice and engaging with the community. In exchange for their studio space, artists will deliver two art classes per week, as well as occasional evening classes throughout the semester.
Artists can expect to be responsible for:
In addition to this, artists will be provided with housing in dorm style accommodations on The Island School campus and access to the dining hall for on-campus meals.
