Our mission is to conserve in a participatory, transparent, and sustainable way the coastal marine resources and the ecosystem services which they provide for the social and cultural well-being of present and future generations in the Bay Islands. The Bay Islands Conservation Association (BICA) is a private, non-profit, grassroots organization founded in 1990 by citizens concerned about the future well-being of the Bay Islands, Honduras, in order to initiate and coordinate efforts for the protection of the fragile natural resources of the islands. To operate, the organization has been divided into three chapters strategically located in each of the islands: Utila, Roatan, and Guanaja; and more recently in Tampa, FL, as an established 501(c)(3) to facilitate donations by interested parties. BICA has 30 plus years of experience implementing programs and projects in the Bay Islands, in environmental education, community development, protection, and research & monitoring.
