The Bay Islands Conservation Association (BICA), is a private, non-profit, grassroot organization founded in 1990 by citizens concerned about the future well-being of the Bay Islands, Honduras in order to initiate and coordinate efforts for the protection of the fragile natural resources of the islands. To operate the organization has been divided into three chapters strategically located in each of the Islands, Utila, Roatan and Guanaja; and more recently in Tampa, FL as an established 501c3 to facilitate donations by interested parties. BICA has 30 plus years of experience implementing programs and projects in the Bay Islands, in environmental education, community development, protection and research & monitoring. Since 1994, BICA signs co-management agreement with the Institute of Forestry Conservation and Wildlife (ICF) for the management of marine and terrestrial protected areas in the Bay Islands of Honduras.
