Role Description and Responsibilities:
The Senior Program Manager role is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about creating practical solutions to improve fishing and aquaculture and promote sustainable seafood production.
Reporting to the Latin America Fisheries Director, the Senior Program Manager will help design and implement innovative solutions to address complex challenges in fisheries. The role will focus on supporting underserved regions globally, emphasizing coastal areas in Latin America.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Management
- Provide oversight for the Latin America Fisheries Program.
- Manage program staff and consultants to ensure the successful implementation of regional and national initiatives aligned with corporate targets and grant commitments.
- Coach and mentor team members and consultants to foster strong performance, alignment with organizational values, and consistency in program execution.
- Coordinate work plan creation.
- Monitor progress against targets with support from assigned staff and consultants, ensuring timely reporting using SFP’s systems.
- Coordinate the development of donor reports, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency.
- Contribute to the preparation of fundraising proposals.
- Manage program budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and financial accountability.
Collaboration and Advocacy
- Manage external relationships with assigned donors, including conducting regular check-ins to provide updates on grant implementation progress.
- Represent SFP at events related to the Latin America field program, advocating for organizational initiatives and priorities.
- Collaborate with program leads to drive the achievement of strategic objectives.
- Proactively coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and fishery stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives and meet grant deliverables.
- Provide pre-competitive technical guidance for supply chain collaborations and stakeholders to support the implementation of fishery improvement initiatives.
- Share insights and lessons learned with other SFP teams to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
Strategy, Planning, and Coordination
- Actively contribute to strategy development to align and advance regional organizational goals.
- Provide strategic leadership in developing corporate engagement strategies to mobilize seafood supply chain companies, guiding them in policy development and actionable initiatives that drive industry improvements.
- Organize, lead, and serve as the secretariat for regular team meetings, ensuring effective coordination and communication.
- Supervise the creation of press releases and collaborate with communication teams to ensure effective messaging and outreach.
- Organize technical workshops and meetings as required.
- Assess capacity-building needs and coordinate training and support for local partners and stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Preferred, Master’s degree in fisheries management, marine biology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in fisheries or a related environmental field.
- 5+ years’ experience in project management within the seafood industry or marine conservation.
- In-depth knowledge of seafood sustainability issues, co-management strategies, and global seafood markets.
- Experience engaging and mobilizing the seafood industry to drive positive changes in fisheries management.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in team management, with a preference for leading diverse, geographically dispersed remote teams.
- Ability to balance independent initiative with effective team collaboration.
- Ability to operate independently within a structured framework of responsibilities, objectives, and deadlines without in-person supervision.
- Capacity to work efficiently and comfortably in a remote setting with suitable work-from-home arrangements.
- Strong global cultural awareness to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate collaboration with globally dispersed colleagues.
- Proficient in productivity software and platforms (e.g., Google Suite, Word, Excel, email, and other standard business tools) with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
Duration/Level of Effort: This is a full-time, remote staff position (40 hours per week) and starts immediately.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and determined within the guidelines of the national and regional labor laws governing your location.
