The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a qualified individual for the Administrative Assistant 4 position. This role is within the Company Supervision Division and is based out of our Tumwater Office.

The Office of the Insurance Commissioner is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant 4 to serve as the principal assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of the Company Supervision Division.
This is more than a traditional administrative support role. We are looking for someone who is curious, resourceful, and motivated to learn about the insurance industry and the important regulatory work that protects consumers and promotes a healthy insurance marketplace. The ideal candidate takes initiative, seeks out answers, anticipates needs, and exercises sound independent judgment while managing a wide range of priorities.
As the Deputy Commissioner’s primary administrative partner, you will play a critical role in supporting division leadership and advancing the work of a division responsible for monitoring the financial condition and market activities of insurance companies and other regulated entities operating in Washington. You will coordinate complex projects, manage competing priorities, and serve as a key liaison among executive leadership, division staff, agency partners, and external stakeholders.
Success in this role requires someone who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, learning new systems and technologies, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and operations. You will be trusted to work independently, analyze information, solve problems, and make informed decisions while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and customer service.
This position also provides supervision and mentorship to administrative staff, leads business process and systems initiatives, and serves as a subject matter expert on operational practices that support the division’s critical regulatory work.

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $4,542 - $6,107.

Required Qualifications:
High school Diploma or Equivalent
AND
Four years* of progressively responsible clerical, office or administrative experience working within a project, program, or operational environment. Administrative support experience includes performing duties that extend beyond basic office or clerical tasks. Such responsibilities include interpreting laws, rules, and regulations; collecting and analyzing administrative data; coordinating and scheduling meetings with multiple attendees; and evaluating various projects, processes, and operations to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
AND
*A degree in public administration, business administration or related field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, or a foreign equivalent may be substituted for relevant experience. Proof of degree may be required prior to employment. If a degree was awarded outside of the United States, candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.
