The Opportunity:
The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is accepting applications for an Office Manager to join our Facilities and Operations Unit to provide administrative support and additional facility coordination in Thurston County in the support of the vulnerable children and families served by DCYF.

Some of what you will get to do:

  • Supervise and oversee the work of an Office Assistant.
  • Plan, organize, and assign varied and extensive processing and service units and related central office activities.
  • Serve as the primary DCYF Point-of-Contact for various stakeholders.
  • Manage DCYF Mail Center including the processing of incoming and outgoing mail and maintaining all mail supplies, current mailing information, and tutorials.
  • Draft, forward, and send email communications to staff related to building notifications, upcoming events, safety protocols, and any other information necessary for operations within Thurston County.
  • Maintain email distribution list(s).
  • Determine needs and coordinate requests for all purchasing for supply room and DCYF HQ buildings in Thurston County including but not limited to: Amazon orders, DES print jobs, Office Depot, Waxie and others as needed.
  • Primary point of contact for managing Employee Parking for DCYF buildings located on the Capital Campus.
  • Work with property managers and/or landlord(s) and maintain clear oversight of the unique nature of the diverse and complex management of DCYF HQ buildings in Thurston County.


Required Qualifications:

Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling five years. One year must include supervisory experience involving responsibility for planning, organizing, and coordinating work in a business office.

OR

A Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration or closely allied field AND one year of supervisory experience involving responsibility for planning, organizing, and coordinating work in a business office.

OR

One year of experience in State service as an Administrative Assistant 2, Human Resource Assistant 2 or Data Compiler 3, or two years in State service as an Administrative Assistant 1 or Human Resource Assistant 1 or equivalent involving supervisory or office management responsibility.


In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:

  • Previously demonstrated experience operating a computer, keyboarding, and utilizing Microsoft Office products.
  • Previously demonstrated experience drafting, editing, and sending electronic correspondence.
  • Previously demonstrated experience researching and navigating internet browsers.
  • Previously demonstrated experience editing, proofreading, and drafting memos and other forms of written documents.
  • Previously demonstrated experience prioritizing multiple assignments in an office environment.
