Ocean Job Board
SECORE International, Inc.
Organization Summary
SECORE International, Inc. is a global nonprofit dedicated to the conservation and restoration of coral reefs. Established in 2015, SECORE harnesses the power of SExual COral REproduction—tapping into corals’ own reproductive potential—to develop scalable and innovative restoration methods. Grounded in rigorous science, we translate research findings and field studies into practical techniques that empower our partners across the Caribbean and beyond to protect and rejuvenate these vital ecosystems. Our far-reaching network of partnerships unites universities, nonprofits, governments, zoos, aquariums, and other stakeholders who share a passion for safeguarding coral reefs. By collaborating across cultures, disciplines, and backgrounds, we promote capacity building and foster inclusive solutions to ensure coral reefs—and the communities they support—continue to flourish.
Job objective:
The Research/Restoration Technician (RT) will be a full-time position with SECORE International based in Curaçao out of the Marine Research Station of the Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity (CARMABI) Foundation. The RT will work within the SECORE International team on a daily basis, reporting directly to SECORE’s Senior Scientist (SS). The RT will have a responsible role in executing and reporting on research and technology testing to further SECORE’s mission. During the coral spawning season, this involves intensive coral larval propagation activities that are inflexible in timing (i.e. night, weekend, and holidays required). Thus, working hours and days-off will be arranged around expected coral spawning times.

Like a coral reef, we believe SECORE thrives with diversity
SECORE strongly believes that a community of diverse backgrounds, beliefs, ethnicities and cultures best prepares us to achieve our research, conservation, and restoration goals. Our strategy for implementing large scale coral restoration depends on working and partnering in many nations and across cultures. We appreciate that every person brings a unique viewpoint and experience to advance our mission, and we seek for our staff and boards to increasingly represent and encompass the diverse cultures, backgrounds, orientations, and perspectives of the communities in which we work and live. SECORE maintains that inclusion requires an ongoing commitment, one we enthusiastically make to build an organization that actively supports diversity across all lines of difference including age, economic circumstance, ethnicity, sex, race, range of ability, sexual orientation, and gender identity/expression.
