Senior Marketing Specialist
Department: Marketing, Communications, and Experience
Reports to: Marketing Manager
Status: Full-time, hourly/non-exempt, benefited position
Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, standard work week with flexibility for evening and weekend events and other projects.
Position Overview:
The Senior Marketing Specialist contributes to the mission of the Seattle Aquarium by creating and executing digital marketing campaigns, focused on email marketing and organic social media, to drive revenue and engagement among current and potential guests, and to inspire conservation of our one ocean. This position reports to the Marketing Manager.
This role is the primary owner of the Aquarium’s email marketing system. Alongside creating and deploying email campaigns for marketing and other departments’ communication goals, this position trains and assists other staff utilizing the email platform, responding with assistance as necessary, and approving drafted emails for publishing.
This role manages all Seattle Aquarium social media accounts and maintains a unique strategy for each channel and its audience to drive results. They report social media metrics regularly—working to continually improve the Aquarium’s digital presence—and create analytic reports. Online, they are also responsible for responding to the community at large and surveying and protecting the Aquarium’s brand reputation, including working with staff to respond to relevant issues that arise online.
This collaborative role requires them to work closely with multiple departments. They are responsible for managing an internal content calendar that combines external messages, audiences, objectives, and channels to ensure digital communications flow in sync. They also collaborate while planning and deploying campaigns—with both internal staff and external peers—to promote Aquarium initiatives and partnerships online and to optimize their performance.

Salary and benefits:
$33.25 - $35.25 / hour.
