Helping people make better seafood choices for a healthy ocean. We protect the ocean now and in the future, through trusted seafood recommendations and collaboration with businesses, governments, consumers, and partners worldwide. Seafood Watch began 20 years ago as a special exhibition at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Today, the Aquarium's Seafood Watch program is a leader in the global sustainable seafood movement. Over the years, Seafood Watch has grown from advising consumers to working directly with businesses and governments around the world — increasing both the market demand for and a reliable supply of, sustainable seafood. Our work is global in focus and impact. Our standards and recommendations are central pillars of the global sustainable seafood movement that companies rely on when purchasing seafood. We also work directly with producers who want to improve their practices and report on the state of sustainable seafood for government bodies, including the United Nations and the United States Congress.
