Seafloor Systems
Purpose of Job:
The role of a field engineer focuses on field operations and training. Field engineers become proficient at conducting hydrographic field operations with Seafloor’s uncrewed vessel fleet, while continually building upon their hydrographic expertise. They will develop operational competency with each vessel in Seafloor’s product fleet. The field engineer will mount and test hardware on Seafloor’s vessels and perform factory and sonar acceptance tests. Field engineers develop advanced operational knowledge of the hydrographic survey equipment that Seafloor sells and rents. Seafloor works with survey equipment that includes multibeam sonars, singlebeam sonars, GNSS equipment, sidescan sonars, acoustic doppler current profilers. The engineer will encourage the professional development and hydrographic capabilities of other support technicians by mentoring. The field engineer will become adept at using hydrographic survey software packages like HYPACK.
The field engineer will become a trainer for Seafloor and support the development of Seafloor’s training program. Training may be given to clients, subcontractors, or dealers. Training may require domestic or international travel or be held at Seafloor’s headquarters. The field engineer will also document technical workflows and answer technical support cases via email and phone. Above all, the field engineer should work to resolve customer issues on a timely basis and in a business-like manner. We are looking for staff who enjoy learning and helping customers to solve problems. Candidates who meet some, but not all, of the experience requirements are encouraged to apply as there will be training provided.

Work Environment:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Typical work requires being on bodies of water, both large and small vessels. May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special projects.

Technical diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in geology, electrical, or mechanical fields preferred.
Licenses/Certificates:
Hypack, Caris, UNB/UNH Multibeam Course, USV Technician, ROV Technician, Sonar Technician
