Aquarium Operations Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a core member of Save The Bay’s Hamilton Family Aquarium team, you will be responsible for teaching guests about
the ecology of Narragansett Bay at our touch tanks and other interactive exhibits. You will be part of the Aquarium
educator team focusing on interacting with the public to share your knowledge of Narragansett Bay and how Save The
Bay works to protect and improve the Bay. This is a fast-paced, high energy environment for people who thrive on being
social. The Aquarium Educator position is a part-time, year-round position available immediately. Applicants should be able to commit to 2-3 days per week, including weekdays and weekends.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge and/or background in marine ecology, environmental science, or environmental education
- Specific knowledge of Narragansett Bay and its watershed is a plus
- Enjoy working with people of various ages, especially children
- Experience working with the public in a customer service role
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high energy environment
- Ability to work well on a team and collaborate effectively with others
- Comfortability handling marine animals
- Comfortable with public speaking and initiating conversations with people
- Must be flexible, reliable, and have positive energy
- First Aid/CPR certification a plus
- BCI check required
- Weekday and weekend availability required.
- Spanish or another multilingual skill a plus
- Teaching at our touch tanks requires the ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time, handling
marine animals throughout the day

- Those with a strong interest in learning about or have background experience in marine biology, aquaria science, and/or environmental education.
- Those looking to gain knowledge, skills, and confidence in all aspects of aquarium animal care needs including the functioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a closed life support system, the ethical treatment of specimens within our care, techniques to capture and release specimens into the wild, and how thoughtful management of specimens can enhance animal welfare.
- Those interested in communicating their knowledge and love for the animals in our collection to guests at the Aquarium.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
$16 per hour
