Equipment Technician

Located in Southwest Florida, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protect and care for Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems.

SCCF is searching for an Equipment Technician, responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of a fleet of light duty trucks and vans, UTV/ATV's, heavy equipment, and a variety of small engine landscape equipment. This position will implement and perform a preventative maintenance schedule to maximize field time, address any breakdowns or emergency issues that may occur in the field, and document all actions performed in asset tracking software. This person must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties and responsibilities:

-Perform and document preventative maintenance to manufacturers specifications on

- 20+ light duty trucks and vans

- 10+ UTV/ATV's

- 2 Agriculture tractors and skid steer

- Multiple trailers of various types

- Small engine equipment including chain saws, trimmers, generators, pumps, etc...

- Maintain a clean and operational shop

- Perform emergency repairs and/or recovery in the field

- Document and record all maintenance in asset tracking software

- Order inventory for scheduled and unscheduled repairs/maintenance

- Disposal of hazardous materials and shop supplies

- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- At least one year of hands on experience and/or specialized education/training in fleet maintenance

-Specialized knowledge related to large and small engine repair and general mechanical abilities

- Ability to work in hot, humid conditions including outdoors and in non-air conditioned spaces

- Ability to professionally interact with the public and collaborators

- Valid drivers license and be at least 18 years of age

- Positive attitude towards achieving goals and the ability to interpret the environment making sound judgements based on evolving changes in priorities

-High level attention to detail and organization

Working conditions:

Willing to work a set schedule with occasional deviations outside of "normal" working hours for emergencies, special events, and special monitoring projects and other events that may arise.

Physical requirements:

-Must be able to lift 50lbs., work outside in the elements when required, safely operate both on and off-road vehicles including ag. tractors, skid steer, and small engine equipment.

- All applicants are required to successful pass a background check and drug test.
