The Role
The Foundry Platform Engineer is responsible for building, extending, and maintaining Saildrone’s Palantir Foundry workflows, pipelines, data transformations, and UI components. This is a hands-on implementation role focused on operational reliability and iterative improvement of the platform as Saildrone scales hardware production and fleet deployments.
This role reports to Foundry Platform Lead and will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, test, and mission operations teams to deliver working solutions rapidly and maintain them over time.
Responsibilities
Foundry Development and Maintenance
● Develop workflows, transforms, datasets, data lineage, and operational tooling inside Foundry.
● Own and maintain pipelines that power production dashboards, build status visibility, test data analysis, and fleet management.
● Harden and refactor existing Foundry code and workflows into maintainable, documented components.
Pipeline & Data Modeling
● Write scalable Python / TypeScript / SQL transforms, pipelines, scheduled processes, and custom React components.
● Support ontology and object model development defined by the Foundry Platform Lead.
● Ensure data quality, integrity, versioning, and reproducibility of data products. Operations Support & Iteration
● Troubleshoot and fix workflow failures, data inconsistencies, model mismatches, and process bottlenecks.
● Capture user feedback and rapidly improve tools and UIs.
● Ensure platform reliability and performance during scaling and fleet expansion.
Collaboration
● Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and mission ops on workflow requirements.
● Coordinate development with the Foundry Platform Lead to ensure alignment with long- term architecture.
● Help teams adopt, learn, and use Foundry tools effectively.
Required Skills and Experience
● 2+ years engineering experience in software or data platform development.
● Strong Python and/or TypeScript skills; SQL experience required.
● Experience with Git (or other version control systems) and CI/CD practices.
● Comfortable debugging, iterating, and improving systems continuously.
Desired skills and Experience
● Hands-on experience building workflows and data pipelines in Palantir Foundry(Transform, Code Repositories, Object models, Actions, Quiver/Workshop).
● Experience integrating data across hardware or manufacturing environments is preferred.
Location: This position is in Alameda, CA. Our waterfront office offers beautiful views of San Francisco Bay in always-sunny Alameda.

The salary range for the role is $140,000-$180,000 annually.
Individual compensation packages are based on geographic location, scope of the role, and relevant experience, among other factors.
