Background: Reef Check is a citizen science kelp forest monitoring program that trains recreational divers in our Kelp Forest Monitoring protocols and surveys over 200 kelp beds from Baja to British Columbia every year. Reef Check is accepting proposals for a professional underwater videographer to capture these divers at work underwater performing Reef Check protocols with the purpose of creating training and outreach materials. Objective:Development of two video resources for our Reef Check Kelp Forest Monitoring program:1. Create an up to date training video demonstrating Reef Check Kelp Forest Monitoring survey techniques to share with new citizen science volunteers as a training tool during their course. (Approx. 10-15 minutes)2. Create promotional videos for prospective citizen science divers and funders. (Approx. 5 minutes)Timeline:Underwater videographers would need to be able to attend some scheduled training and survey days between the months of May and October. Potential travel required to kelp forest monitoring regions between British Columbia and Baja. Pre-approved travel expenses will be reimbursed. Both video can be based on the same footage.
