Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) DSGN 244 Teaching Assistant (TA) position for the School of Marketing/Design/Analytics at Oregon State University (OSU).

Responsible Student TA to assist with Design 244 Color Innovation Class. One section in person and online. Student to support instructor with a variety of duties. This includes preliminary assessment of student work to meet rubric standards, responding to student emails/questions, tutoring and mentoring students to help them complete assignments timely.
The ideal candidate will have already taken Design Innovation class, DSGN 244 at the College of Business.
Pay rate for this position is $16.05 per hour
Transferable Skill Development
Position Duties
Preliminary grading of student assignments and group projects, answering student emails and questions about assignments; providing support and guidance to students facing setbacks in the course. Instructor support will include copies, student direction when instructor is not available. FERPA training and understanding of privacy laws.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
The idea candidate will possess strong drawing and communication skills, ability to work within deadlines, a strong work ethic, and ability to provide detailed updates to instructor on progress grading and assignment tasks.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Dedication, commitment, empathy toward students. Ability to help students achieve their best work product through tutoring and mentorship. Computer software skills on Design Programs.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Student TA must be an enrolled student preferably in the School of Business, who has taken DSGN 244. 7-10 hours a week are required; and more during finals week with advanced planning based on TA’s finals week schedule.
