Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Teaching Assistant for the School of Entrepreneurship, Management, and Logistics at Oregon State University (OSU).

TA for the BA 375 large format section.
Pay for this position is $16.05 per hour.

Position Duties
Classroom Support (Thursdays, 5.5 hours weekly)

  • Attend in-person class sessions on Thursdays from 12:00–3:50 p.m. in Austin Hall 183.
  • Meet with instructor before and after class on Thursdays (11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 3:50–4:30 p.m.) in Austin Hall.
  • Set up and manage all classroom AV technology, including:
  • Zoom guest speaker sessions
  • PowerPoint presentation setup
  • Canvas-embedded video playback
  • Assist with managing in-class workshop teams and student technical issues.
  • Monitor classroom behavior (e.g., late arrivals, early departures, participation).
Attendance Technology Implementation

  • Independently investigate, implement, and test a smartphone- or Canvas-compatible attendance app with the following features:
  • Password access for time-limited check-in
  • Integration with Canvas gradebook
  • First-line student support for attendance tracking
  • Time for this work may be compensated during Fall Term 2025 and/or the Winter break.
Ongoing Communication & Administrative Support

  • Respond promptly to instructor communication (email/text) throughout the week.
  • Be available for scheduled phone calls (typically 4:00–10:00 p.m.).
  • Report weekly hours spent on TA duties outside of class.
  • Coordinate logistics for guest speakers (e.g., parking, material prep).
  • Ensure classroom materials are available and functional (e.g., markers, microphones, batteries).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Must be available in person on Thursdays from 11:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the duration of the Winter 2026 term.
  • Proven ability to independently operate and troubleshoot AV systems, including Zoom and classroom display tools.
  • Familiarity with Canvas, including embedding content and managing student access.
  • Strong initiative in researching and implementing tech solutions (e.g., attendance tracking apps).
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • Comfortable supervising undergraduate students in a professional and respectful manner.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a TA or in classroom support.
  • Familiarity with OSU-approved tech tools for attendance or classroom engagement.
  • Experience coordinating with faculty support services or guest speakers.
  • Availability for some pre-term or Winter break work (paid) to set up classroom tools.
  • Leadership experience in business, teaching, or mentoring settings.
