Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) student technical assistant for the School of Mktg/Design/Analytics at Oregon State University (OSU).

A research assistant is sought to support design scholarship focused on the intersections of design, democracy, and place and community-engaged research.
Pay rate for this position is $16.05 per hour.

Position Duties
The position involves supporting the development of research plans and timelines; identifying and tracking suitable journals for publication; coordinating writing and research projects; conducting literature reviews; copyediting and formatting manuscripts for submission; and coordinating the promotion of accepted submissions through academic and public channels. Weekly meetings will ensure alignment of goals, and much of the work can be completed independently with a flexible schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated research experience, strong organizational and operational skills, and excellent writing and editing abilities. An interest in design and design research is highly-valued, particularly as they relate to democratic practice and community-engaged scholarship.
