Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) International Researcher for the Office of Development at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Relationship Insights team of the Oregon State University Foundation partners with OSU Foundation Development to ensure that we are engaging the right major gift donors at the right time, using technology, data and analytics.

As a member of the Relationship Insights team, this student position supports our efforts in identifying and engaging international donors. The student researcher will help the foundation expand its global network of supporters by conducting targeted research and analysis on high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) with philanthropic interests aligned with the university’s mission.
This position is located at the OSU Foundation office at 4238 SW Research Way, Corvallis, OR 97333.

Position Duties
Reporting to specific members of the Associate Director of Relationship Insights, the student researcher is responsible for supporting the research of international alums by:
  • Independently conducting further in-depth research on prospective donors and contacts, identifying qualified leads with a demonstrated interest in supporting our key projects and strategic priorities.
  • Conduct biographical and financial research, utilizing various on-line and electronic sources
  • Support with the creation of prospect lists
  • Present the results of this research in a clear and well-structured manner
  • Assist with providing donor philanthropic ratings
  • Accurately enter, update, and review records in the Foundation’s donor management system
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Must be a student at Oregon State University and have a general understanding of office practices. Be able to handle interpersonal relationships maturely, thoughtfully, and empathetically, including the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Working proficiency (written and spoken) of Mandarin and/or Thai.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive data with integrity
  • Aptitude for analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing complex data from multiple sources, including social, professional, and public information
  • Ability to interpret cultural evidence, social cues, and contextual indicators to analyze individual backgrounds, interests, and potential philanthropic capacity
  • Highly proficient in internet search engines and advanced search techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an overall ability to be clear and concise; attention to detail
  • Demonstrated writing skills: reports, presentations, and/or protocols
  • Ability to adapt communication style to diverse audiences
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills; documented ability to prioritize and deliver on time

This is a part-time position working up to 24 hours per week with the option to work additional hours during breaks.
