The Oregon Kelp Alliance (ORKA) is a collaborative initiative focused on the health of kelp forest ecosystems, involving diverse stakeholders such as commercial divers, researchers, and conservationists. ORKA aims to address the decline of kelp forests due to climate change and local stressors by launching experimental restoration projects, including culling sea urchins to promote kelp regeneration. Supported by Oregon Sea Grant and various partners, ORKA is engaged in scientific research, community education, and ecological monitoring to enhance understanding and promote the health of these vital marine ecosystems.
