Are you a recent grad looking for a 12-month internship working in ocean technology? If you dream of exploring remote ocean environments with advanced robotic technologies, we’ll take you there.

About Open Ocean Robotics

Operating on the ocean around the world from Victoria BC, Open Ocean Robotics (OOR) is a growing startup transforming how we understand our oceans through better data. We are leaders in solar-powered Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) that voyage inhospitable ocean environments autonomously for extended missions. Combined with advanced sensors and data analytics, producing no greenhouse gases or risk of oil spills, our USVs offer a safer, more effective and affordable way to gain ocean insights. We are transforming how we study, protect and use our oceans, and are driven by a pioneering spirit to push boundaries and make the seemingly impossible possible.

Core Responsibilities

  • Participate and assist in USV deployment and recovery operations
  • Pilot OOR’s Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) either in-house o remotely
  • Conduct small-vessel operations in support of USV field work on the water
  • Help plan field operations, including scheduling, USV preparation, and data collection
  • Support collection and organization of oceanographic, meteorological, and other data
  • Analyze various data including ocean properties, acoustics, and engineering output of USVs
  • Assist writing detailed reports including data acquisition methods, analysis, and results
  • Work collaboratively with OOR project managers and technical teams to support both customer and company goals
