PAID INTERNSHIP UNDER THE BLUE CARBON PROGRAMPosition Title: Intern – Blue Carbon ProgramLocation: Cagwait, Surigao del Sur (Local resident or relocation required)Duration: September 1 to December 15, 2025Start Date: September 1, 2025Benefits: Meals, accommodation, and field travel expenses within Cagwait and surrounding field sites will be provided by Oceanus Conservation.ObjectiveThe internship aims to provide a young professional or student with hands-on experience in mangrove restoration and community-based conservation. The intern will assist in field activities, data collection, communication work, and logistical support for the Blue Carbon Program in Surigao del Sur.Key Responsibilities- Assist in mangrove restoration activities for Tago, including nursery management, planting, and monitoring (survival and growth rate and photo-time series).- Support local engagement efforts, such as community meetings, environmental education, and stakeholder workshops for community development (Leadership, Governance and Conflict Resolution, Basic Bookkeeping and Financial Literacy and Sustainable Livelihood.- Contribute to documentation efforts through photography, report writing, and social media content and blogs.- Provide administrative support for logistics, scheduling, and coordination with local community partners.- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Project Leader or Director.Qualifications- Undergraduate or graduate in Marine Biology, Biology, Environmental Science, Forestry, Social Science, or related fields.- Must be based around Surigao del Sur or willing to relocate to Cagwait, Surigao del Sur, for the internship duration (3 months). Relocation will be in our field station. Preferably who knows how to drive motorcycle/scooter.- Strong interest in coastal ecosystems, climate resilience, or community-based conservation.- Must be comfortable working in a shared accommodation in the Field station, and rural setting.- Good written and verbal communication skills (English and Filipino/Bisaya preferred).- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team- Experience in community work, environmental campaigns, or research is an advantage.- Good skills in Microsoft 365, and Google workspace.- Basic skills in photography, GIS, or graphic design is a plus but not required.Internship Benefits- Monthly stipend (amount to be specified upon selection)- Free meals and accommodation during the internship – Field station- Only local travel expenses within Cagwait and neighboring field sites are covered.
