ROLE OVERVIEW
This is an exciting opportunity to support and shape a growing ocean conservation non-profit, while advancing your community management, copywriting, and a wide variety of marketing skills.
The Community & Marketing Manager will work with the Marketing Team and wider Oceanic Global NGO to help nurture and meaningfully engage a global community of ocean enthusiasts through leading on Oceanic Global’s Hub program and Ambassadorial program, supporting on wider community efforts including Blue and execute, optimize, and support overarching marketing strategies.
This full-time position is best suited to someone who is a natural community builder, that likes to be part of a dynamic and nimble team and can be a part-time community manager, part-time copywriter, part-time marketing manager, and part-time strategic thinker to help advance OG’s awareness, reach, and engagement. A successful candidate has a passion for networking, marketing and environmental action, is digital savvy, forward-thinking, and a highly motivated team player.
The candidate must have proven organizational, communications, and copywriting skills. A foundation in marketing and in the environmental space is preferred, but not necessary if the candidate has relevant work or course experience. This is a new role for the organization where your contributions will have an immediate impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing Strategy
- Support Marketing Team and the Oceanic Global organization with developing & executing omnichannel marketing strategies.
- Support the Marketing Team in Content Planning sessions, executing against the Marketing Calendar, and tracking and delivering against marketing timelines.
Community Building Development, Engagement & Management
- Hubs Program
- Support and implement the Hubs program strategy including developing necessary materials and systems.
- Serve as community manager for Hub Chairs and Steering Committee, including being point of contact between OG leadership team, Hubs and partners. This includes scheduling meetings, timelines, program implementation, event and marketing support, reporting and tracking fundraising. Areas of activation include but are not limited to empowering local regenerative and conservation practices, implementing educational campaigns, Blue implementation and empowering Hubs to support local policy efforts.
- Work with the leadership team to oversee Hub-led events and programming, developing and updating resources and reporting of program impact, including end-of-year report.
- Work with the leadership team to create and refine processes that help streamline program development, communications, and community-building strategies, and lead on execution.
- Research, vet and onboard non-profit, charity and educational partnerships in alignment with OG’s sustainability criteria and/or Hub program integrations.
- Support the development of strategies to support the growth of the Hubs communities including, developing strategies to recruit further Hubs members.
- Develop and execute strategies to grow and engage our global community of ocean advocates.
- Create and manage online and offline events, campaigns, and initiatives to drive community involvement.
- Monitor and respond to community feedback and inquiries across all social platforms, email channels, and during in-person & virtual events.
- Manage daily community management on social channels, including responding to questions, engaging with the OG community, and building discussions.
- Manage OG’s ambassadorial program (ambassador relations, drafting program updates, and identifying engagement opportunities)
- Support with monitoring platforms for marketing and consumer trends, current events, and policy changes.
- Support content partnership outreach and collaboration
Ambassador & Influencer Program
- Strategize with the Marketing Team to engage current and new prospective ambassadors/ influencers and build mutually beneficial partnerships aligned with strategic goals and the marketing calendar.
- Lead on communications with ambassadors & influencers on social media and identify opportunities for collaboration and the amplification
- Managing OG Ambassador Instagram Group Chat as a communications channel
- Assist with ambassador campaign seeding and gift shipments.
Copywriting
- Write engaging, informative, and persuasive content for various platforms, including website articles, blog posts, press articles, social media updates, newsletters, reports, and marketing materials.
- Develop compelling messaging for advocacy campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and awareness drives, ensuring consistency in our brand voice and messaging across all channels.
- Review and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in all communications, while maintaining our brand standards.
- Stay current with SEO best practices and incorporate them into written content to improve organic search rankings, drive web traffic, and increase online visibility.
- Stay informed about ocean-related issues, trends, and developments to create content that is relevant, timely, and informative.
- Partner closely with the marketing team and across program areas to align copy needs with visual elements and campaign goals.
Content Planning & Analytics
- Assist the Marketing team with the development of marketing content for Oceanic Global’s ongoing events and content pillars, in alignment with OG’s mission and programs.
- Develop email marketing strategy in partnership with the Marketing Team
- Develop monthly and quarterly newsletters.
- Support Marketing Team with website maintenance and content updates.
- Support with fundraising campaigns, and OG’s general reporting & analytics needs including OG’s end-of-year report.
- Support the marketing team track towards established KPIs.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or 2-5 years of experience in marketing, community management, social media management, influencer marketing, or related fields.
- Global mindset, genuine desire to create positive impact and inspire others to protect our ocean and our planet
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, copywriting skills, presentation skills, and attention to detail
- Experience with omni-channel community management
- Experience with social media content planning

- Bonus: Basic graphic design and video editing skills (experience with Adobe Suite preferred or Figma).

DETAILS & BENEFITS
- Full-time salaried position - 40 hours per week
- Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000 per year
