Position Overview

Oceana is seeking an experienced and driven Campaign Director to lead the design and delivery of our campaigns on illegal fishing and transparency in Europe. Reporting to the Head of Campaigns, this senior role owns campaign-level strategy and delivery — setting clear strategic direction, driving effective implementation, and ensuring measurable advocacy outcomes in the fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing across Europe and globally.

The Campaign Director manages a team of two senior campaigners and works closely with policy advisors, communications staff, and cross-functional teams to expose unlawful fishing practices, advance transparency and accountability, and push for stronger fisheries governance. The role also contributes to fundraising, donor engagement, and broader organisational planning.

The ideal candidate brings at least 10 years of experience leading and delivering advocacy or public-facing campaigns in complex political environments, with proven skills in strategy development, team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and budget management. Experience working within European and/or international advocacy contexts is essential. Oral and written proficiency in English is required; fluency in additional European languages such as French or German is an advantage.

This position is based in Brussels, Belgium. Staff are required to work from the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The role involves regular travel, primarily within Europe, with occasional intercontinental travel.

Salary range €80,000.00 To €90,000.00 Annually. is The actual salary offer will depend on the candidate’s exact work location, qualifications, relevant experience, and internal pay equity relative to current employees in similar roles.
