Outreach & Field Director

Oceana in Ghana is seeking an Outreach & Field Director. Oceana is the largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., Oceana works to rebuild abundant and biodiverse oceans by advancing science-based policies that protect marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.

Oceana’s Ghana office, established in early 2026 as the organization’s first office in Africa, works alongside coastal communities to rebuild fish populations, improve nutrition, and strengthen livelihoods.

Key responsibilities include leading Oceana’s outreach and field strategy in Ghana, driving grassroots mobilization, and building strong relationships with coastal communities, civil society groups, and key stakeholders. The Outreach and Field Director will oversee field operations, manage a network of activists and supporters, and ensure that on-the-ground engagement translates into measurable advocacy impact in support of national campaign objectives.

The ideal candidate is an experienced outreach and field leader with a strong background in grassroots organizing and stakeholder engagement. They are a strategic thinker and effective communicator with at least 7 years of experience who can build trust across diverse communities, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, campaign-driven environment. Experience working within Ghana’s fisheries or marine ecosystem landscape is strongly preferred.

This position is based in Accra, Ghana (with approximately 40% field travel) and reports to the Vice President, Ghana.

Oceana operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work options on Mondays and Fridays.
