Role Summary
As the Shoreline Cleanup Coordinator, you will work as part of the Youth, Education & Shoreline team to support, grow and strengthen the Ocean Wise Shoreline Cleanup program and the broader Plastics Initiative, advancing Ocean Wise’s goal of radically reducing macro- and micro-plastic pollution. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and hosting Shoreline Champion and cleanup events; engaging volunteers; partners, and stakeholders; supporting outreach and relationship-building efforts; and contributing to program growth, including strategic expansion initiatives where applicable. You will also lead or support data collection, management, analysis, and impact reporting related to shoreline cleanups, maintain inventory and logistical tracking, and support clear internal and external communications to ensure consistent delivery, strong partner engagement, and measurable environmental impact.
*Please note that this position requires the candidate to be located in either Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON and requires travel across the US and Canada*

What You Will Be Doing
- Planning, coordinating, and delivering Shoreline Champion and shoreline cleanup events, including permits, logistics, volunteer support, and event follow-up across Canadian and U.S. programs.
- Leading outreach and engagement efforts to mobilize volunteers, community groups, and partners; building and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including U.S.-based financial and mobilization partners.
- Supporting the research, development, and implementation of the Shoreline Cleanup U.S. expansion strategy, ensuring a coordinated and strategic approach to U.S. partner relationships, volunteer engagement, training, and event delivery.
- Overseeing data collection, entry, analysis, and quality control for shoreline cleanups, maintaining the litter database and contributing to program KPIs, partner reporting, impact reports, board materials, and grant applications.
- Collaborating with the Communications team and other internal stakeholders to align Shoreline Cleanup objectives with organizational priorities, contributing insights, data, and content for outreach materials, and supporting additional program operations as needed.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering events or programs, including managing logistics, timelines, and multiple stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders, including corporate and mobilization partners across different regions.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and occasionally to the United States, as required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with confidence engaging diverse audiences through presentations, outreach, and public-facing interactions.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with flexibility to adapt, learn new systems quickly, and support evolving program needs, including cross-border coordination.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM/database systems considered an asset.
How You Will Be Measured
- Effective delivery of Shoreline Champion and shoreline cleanup events across Canada and the United States, demonstrated through well-coordinated logistics, timely permitting, strong partner relationships, and positive volunteer experiences.
- Achievement of program targets and priorities, including event delivery goals, volunteer engagement, and litter data collection rates, contributing to the overall growth and impact of the Shoreline Cleanup program.
- High-quality data management and reporting, reflected in accurate, complete, and timely entry of cleanup data into the Ocean Wise Shoreline Litter Database, and meaningful contributions to impact reporting and program evaluation.
- Strong collaboration and contribution to program growth, including effective coordination with internal teams and external partners, and support for the successful implementation of U.S. programming and expansion objectives.

This full-time, benefits-eligible position offers:
- A remote working environment, when not onsite leading events, with the option to work in person in our beautiful downtown Vancouver head office.
- A base salary, $53,000 – 57,000, in line with market data for not-for-profit organizations

Where and How You’ll Work
This position is based in either Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON, Canada with the possibility to work at our headquarters in downtown Vancouver, if desired. The role may require flexibility to travel across Canada and the US and/or to work occasional weekends and evenings to attend Ocean Wise Shoreline Cleanups, events, and conferences. The role involves driving, sitting, standing and talking for prolonged periods, exposure to outdoor environments with seasonal temperature fluctuations, and lifting heavy objects on a daily basis (up to 20 kgs to chest level). It also involves working on a computer screen for extended durations.
