Established in 2007, Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) operates a world-leading ocean observatory for the advancement of science and the benefit of Canada. The ONC Observatory has two subsea cabled networks - the VENUS coastal network and the NEPTUNE Canada regional network - which enable researchers in Canada and world-wide to conduct transformative ocean research using innovative technologies. This five year (2011-16) Strategic and Management Plan for Ocean Networks Canada sets out the vision, mission, strategic goals and management priorities of ONC building upon the achievements under an initial three year plan approved by the ONC Board in 2008. ONC's vision is to be a world-leading organization supporting ocean discovery and technological innovation, and the mission is to enable transformative ocean research for the advancement of science and technology and for the benefit of Canada.
