Ocean Associates, Inc. is seeking a full-time Economist to support existing NOAA coastal resilience and fisheries management investments. OAI is a Virginia corporation established in 2003 that provides consulting and technical services to the U.S. government, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and the private sector. We specialize in scientific program and project management, strategic planning, professional and technical services, and stakeholder engagement, supporting government contracts.
Duties
- Using economic analysis and impact evaluation approaches, both qualitative and quantitative to provide assessment of socioeconomic and environmental benefits, including but not limited to reducing economic losses, creating jobs and strengthening ecosystem and community resilience.
- Interpretation of peer-reviewed economic and scientific studies and applying those studies to estimate economic benefits.
- Data analysis and interpretation of results for both technical and lay-audiences.
- Communication of approaches, theories, and results via reports, memos, and through direct client and stakeholder engagement.
Start Date: Early August
Location: Remote/Telework
Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour depending on experience. In case of a catastrophic event, weekend work may be required.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Master’s degree in Economics with relevant work experience
- Strong written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the economics of environmental decision in the United States.
- Familiarity with fisheries or natural resource management.
