J OB SUMMARY:
The One-on-One Aide, under the d rection of the Youth Program Coordinator and Youth Program
Manager, will provide opportunities to enhance individual growth and development and build upon the sense of self-esteem for a chi ld with special needs during the Summer Youth Program. This
position is responsible for support i ng a chi d with special needs, engaging in other activities that are associated with the circle of well ness, improving culture identity providing anti-substance abuse programs, improving academic achievement and promoting youth leadership roles.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBI LITIES:
1. Accompanying the student throughout the duration of the Summer Youth Program.
2. Advising, helping and tutoring the student
- Participating in all activities with the student.
- Teaching the student to anticipate difficult situations and deal with them.
- Creating opportunities to provide student with positive attention.
- Encouraging prog ra m interaction.
- Working with Youth Department staff to assure the success of the student.
- Acting as a companion for assigned student.
- Serving as a role model for student
- Planning and following directions.
- Maintaining excellent conflict resolution skills and being able to diplomatically handle confrontation.
- Assisting in guiding the child's behavior using ng a positive and consistent style.
- Carrying out first aid and emergency procedures when required.
- Assuming responsibility for learning and adapting to this child's special medica, physical, communicative and emotional needs.
OTHER DUTIES:
Beca use of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field du ties from time to time.
Such du ties may or may not be related to regular responsibilities.

MI NIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required to be considered for the position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION
- High School Diploma or GED.

Experience working with youth with special needs.
- Experience with children in group situations, good communication skills, and high degree of flexibility.
- Experience in program planning for a children with special needs.
- Ability to adapt activities to meet the needs of the child.
- Competent in Microsoft Office.
REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be at least 18years of age.
- Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment
- Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver's License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe.
- Certified in basic First Aid/CPR and blood borne pathogens before or during summer program orientation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ( The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.):
Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to focus.
- Frequently required to sit, talk and hear.
- Required to use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk for extended periods of time.
DESIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITIES:
The following qualifications are preferred/helpful for the Incumbent to be considered for this position.
Paraprofessional or experience working in Social Work, Education, Program Planning or
related field.
