Grade: F JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Social Services Director and/or Assistant Director, the Elders Kitchen Nutrition/Cook will plan and prepare fresh nutritious well-balanced meal daily Monday through Friday for Elders. The Elders Nutrition/cook will oversee ail of the daily operations at the Elders Community Building including; shopping, ordering supplies, meal propping and planning, ensure all health and safety rules, regulations are followed. The Elders Kitchen Nutrition/Cook will prepare and cook lunch, pre- clean and sanitize food preparation and serving areas. Clean kitchen and cafeteria after meals. Collect $5.00 from anyone that is under 55 years of age that participates in the Elders luncheon daily and manage the budget for weekly shopping, beverage ordering and portion control and/or waste control.MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Create a monthly nutrition elders meal plan that is approved through Title VI granting agency, Tribal dietician and/or the Department director.2. Plan and provide opportunities for community eiders to socialize.3. Organize and shop accordingly to the approve weekly nutritional elder meal plan4. Maintain an inventory of food supplies needed for cooking, ordering food and other supplies on-line, shop weekly for fresh products, date ail food and discard outdated food.5. Pre-Title VI requirements must maintain a sign-in sheet for Elders and record the number of Elders served and food delivered each day.6. Ensure receipts are recorded and turned into appropriate department in a timely manner7. Prepare all types of food, such as meats, soups, salads, sandwiches, vegetables and desserts 8. Operate, maintain and clean all equipment and appliances after each use9. Cooking meal in quantities according to the menu and number of Elder served. Ensure portion control with little waste.10. Ensuring all food is properly cooked and is appealing11. Storing all foods are stored properly before and after cooking12. Making sure all storage arears are properly maintained and regularly cleaned13. Preparing reports regarding products cooked, number of meals prepared, cost and leftovers14. Complete the cleaning of all dishes, utensils, tables, counters, and kitchen equipment15. Create a rapport with all vendors and elders 16. Record daily cash sales, prepare weekly cash logs and turn into Director and or Assistant director 17. Be responsible to open and close the elders building Monday-Friday, except any scheduled holidays18. Travel as needed to neighboring Tribal Functions with the Elders19. Other Duties as assignedOTHER DUTIES: Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to regular responsibilities. PREFERENCE: Indian Preference Policy applies to this and all positions with the Nooksack Indian TribeMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The following qualifications are required for the incumbent considered for this position.REQUIRED EDUCATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:● High School Graduate or GED equivalent● Culinary degree and two years directly related experienceOr ● Five years directly related experience REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION: Possess the ability to accept direction Demonstrate professionalism and contribute to a positive work environment Must have basic math skills for collecting daily money for meals sold to individuals 55 and younger Effectively use verbal, writing and listening skill Completes paperwork accurately Maintain an acceptable attendance record and is punctual Know how to organize and prioritize work and delivery time Contributes to day-to-day smooth running of unit or process React productively to interruptions and changing conditionsREQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employmentMust pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver's License and meet the insurability requirements of the TribeMust have and maintain throughout employment a Food Handlers Permit PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS{The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job):The standard work week for this position is 7:30AM-3:00pm Monday through FridayMust be able to lift 20 + lbs.
